To make the poor rich, you have to change their conditions, aspiration and their education. 1. Conditions of poverty include lack of capital, lack of infrastructure, corruption of bureaucrats, lack of work ethic and culture of poverty. There are non-profits that are working in each of these areas except corruption of government, and that is made hard by the corruption of the political parties and the powers that support them. 2. Aspirations: if a poor person is to become rich, he must see it as possible, and desirable. He must not see the obstacles, but the prize. He must will himself forward against the wind. Drugs, bad education, crime and racism work against this. 2. Education is the premier method of creating wealthy people. The overwhelming majority of poor have bad educations (average years in school: 10). Our educational system is built to protect bad teachers; remove them, and our marginal education system improves overnight. Administrators know who they are, but they cannot fire them due to union contracts. Unions work against quality education in the USA. The poor we will have with us always, because all things human are distributed in a bell-shaped curve. How we help them determines our humanity. How we harm them is a measure of our monstrosity.
Removing that tax base would cripple the country. I firmly believe it's not about collecting taxes anyways .. It's about the lack of accountability and poor decisions about the spending of the collected tax dollars ... not to mention misappropriation .. THAT is the problem.

You really think that taxing the wealthy makes them POOR? They have been given so many tax deductions & have access to the best lawyers in order to hide their $$$ from the IRS that they continue to get wealthier! Its time that we taxed them MORE! I read that the percentage we tax is at the lowest point its ever been-and our cities , states, kids, schools, roads, libraries, etc are suffering because of fewer taxes & the ways our gov't chooses to spend that $$$. It especially hurt when a cap on property taxes was enacted in many places. I figure if you can afford a home, you can afford the taxes or you shouldn't have bought that home! Even we, being lower income, pay taxes, & we can't afford to pay a lawyer to hide OUR little bit of savings & income!

The best way to better the situation of the poor is to spur economic growth and the best way to do that is to make it easier for rich people to creat jobs. Have you ever gotten a pay cheek from a poor person? Didn't think so. If we lower taxes on the rich they can inject that money back into the economy by investing in companies that will hire people or by hiring people themselves. You can't help the poor by taxing the people who could give them jobs.
Why do liberals think a fat man got that way by stealing food from a skinny man? Lower taxes on all people and watch this country soar. Keep raising them on the rich and then wonder why they take jobs overseas and we all become equally poor. Use your collective heads people. Btw the 49% of this country pay no income tax. Most receive other peoples money through entitlements. We are going to run out of other peoples money sooner than later.
