Can a fourth of America really not find America on a world map? I've heard this, but it seems ridiculous.
According to a geographic literacy study done by National Geographic-Roper Public Affairs 2006, it is not true. The study shows that only three people in fifty Americans cannot find the U.S. on a world map. My mother was a teacher (math & science). One of her fellow teachers told the father of one of her students that "she doesn't even know where North America is." The father's response: "So what? She'll never go there!" Sad but true.
