Back in what geologists refer to as "The Day", glaciers a mile thick worked their way across the landscape, gouging out U shaped vallies, pushing boulders to places they didn't belong and scratching grooves into solid bedrock. Melting glacial ice water ran downhill and formed rivers and lakes, even the Great Lakes were created by glaciers. But glaciers are only one part of erosion, there's also wind and rain and lava and earthquakes.
