is The Simpsons getting more inappropriate for every episode?

Last Sunday's episode was as inappropriate as a Britney Spears concert, so i'm wondering if this theory is true

I believe your right in the sense that the Simpsons is getting more inappropriate

No.

If it was ... it would either be off the air, or just a black (censored out) screen and "bleep" for the language.

And BTW - a colonoscopy is *very* appropriate, if you want to prevent colon cancer and other serious health problems. Just sayin.

Walkin, all I can really say is that I am no longer shocked by pretty much anything that is on TV or in movies. Everything is turning into a vulgarity-fest out there. Wholesomeness died with Little House on the Praire. I don't remember who said it but "we live in an age of the gross" I personally LOVE raunchy and perverted things, so you aren't gonna catch me complainin about this kinda stuff, I'm just stating a fact :)
Report as
Its true the world has loss its MODESTY, sad thing in my opinion.....i dont mind raunchy and perverted things but nowadays vulgar images/actions happen everywhere and it becomes overwhelming
Report as
I mean, they have existed for a while now, but these days we are just friggin bombarded by this stuff!! Ya used to have to go out of your way to see some stuff like that, now all ya gotta do is turn on the TV at ANYTIME of day pretty much and it's right there.
Report as
Yup yup....my bfs little brother watches nothing but music videos and its like im watching dirty tease videos. I'll think ones way out of line and then another one comes on and out does the other one lmfao js
Report as
Exactly!! You think to yourself "there is no way that there could possibly be a more vulgar video" then "UP NEXT IT'S BACK DOOR BABES SPREAD EAGLE ON SOMEONES FACE" :)
Report as
Woah lmfao hahahahahahaha
Report as
I was fully expecting a removal of that statement, but I'm glad it's still there :)
Report as
I don't get how parents are so surprised by the way there kids act, i mean look at what theyre watching!!!! Mtv is nothing but vulgar lol

It certainly seems to be. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Simpsons! But I think they have been on so long maybe they're running out of ideas or maybe they are trying to compete with the other animated shows that have always been sort of inappropriate. Regardless, I hope they find their groove again, what a great show!

I have never watched it....or any of the other animated series.....now Bugs Bunny and RoadRunner well that's a diff story....lol
Report as
If you enjoy the classics like Bugs Bunny and the Roadrunner you would probably really like the early Simpsons as well. It's not really fair to compare the two, I grew up on the good stuff like Porky and Daffy and even the Flinstones was fun. Now some people consider the Roadrunner and such as being too violent! Ridiculous!

problem is, all these innocuous programs open the door just a little bit at a time.
Report as
Hi Mona! Yup! Last night I had tv on in background. South Park was doing a piece around the " shake weight" arm "exercise" equipment. It was pretty graphic.
Report as
OMG!!! The shake weight episode was OFF THE CHARTS!!! I mean I LOVE south park and all, but how they got away with that is just astounding :)
Report as
I think the writers (and the public) have some mistaken idea that a scripted cartoon of vile, graphic, debasing, crude and vulgar material is not the same as scripted real people.
Report as
True Mona, there really is no difference, all that matters is the material, cartoon or live action, makes no difference.

I would argue that over time it has become *less* offensive. Those of us who were around when it first came on the air, know that back then it caused quite a ruckus-- it was one of the first cartoon series that wasn't "wholesome" (I don't remember which came first, "Simpsons" or "Beavis and Butthead"). Bottom line is, while the "Simpsons" HAVE changed with the times, in many ways it is much less of a "shock value" show now... and it paved the way for "South Park" and "Family Guy." If you look at all of them, the latter show is the only one in the group that has moved AWAY from its initial focus on social commentary, and has become more of an "inappropriate" show as time has gone by. So no... I would say that while the "Simpsons" have changed with the times, it is not more offensive now. <3
