What type of pain medication(s) are prescribed after wisdom teeth removal?

Report as

The best pain medication to take after wisdom teeth removal will be acetaminophen or ibuprofen. These two can only be taken for minor pains. If the pain is too much, it is important to consult your dentist before buying any other medication.

You might be prescribed Vicodin (spelling?), which is a pretty strong pain medication. It doesn't always hurt much after wisdom teeth are removed. I had a lot of swelling (looked like chipmunk) but very little pain.

Vicodan is an opiate, and can become addictive in a matter of days.

Aleve (naproxen sodium) for bone and nerve discomfort. Acetaminophen won't touch it, and Ibuprofen is nasty for the digestive tract.
