My brother and I both have a hereditary condition we inherited from our grandfather. Our esophagus clamps shut every now and then in the middle of a meal. We can breath fine, but food can't go down and is often stuck for a few minutes until our throat opens up again. It's extremely painful when it happens. You should tell your doctor about your condition and talk to family and see if anyone else experiences this problem.

Does it hurt? If it does, you have strep! I have it a lot so I know how it feels.
