The lumps under your arms are Lymph Nodes, they help produce white blood cells and can become sore and swollen when you are fighting an infection of some kind. It is probably a good idea to see a doctor if your Lymph Nodes are swollen, you most likely need an antibiotic to help fight the infection.

Thank you. I have been told everything from blocked gland to ingrown hair. Very worrisome simply because started as lump under skin into engorged feeling knots, red, & very painful. Now golf ball size without a "head" or any kind of drainage, so dont think cyst or abcess. Just don't wanna feel crazy going to doctor over nothing.

You most Likely wouldn't be experiencing a Fever if it were boils or ingrown hairs. fever is another symptom of a bacterial infection of some sort.
