I've never seen them it a mouse. I've seen them catch 1 break its neck and move on. My old cat was a bum he'd,chase them down, give them a few lefts & right paws, then hold on to its tail with a paw. As soon as the mouse had regained its senses & tried to run, bam the same thing, it would repeat until he was bored, he'd walk away, the mouse would split & call it a night
B4 we started feeding them Meow Mix, they were predatory animals. I watched my friends cat catch a bird in mid flight, it was amazing!! Just the other day my neighbors cat pounced on and ate a butterfly :)
When I was in High School, I had a cat that was a fabulous hunter. His specialty was rabbits as big as himself, which he would then partially consume in the garage. My kitty my clean up. In the spring, summer, and autumn months it was at least 3 a week. "Domestic" cats are the most successful hunters in the feline world, including the great cats like lions and tigers.
