Is it grammatically incorrect to begin a sentence with the word "also"?

If there's a comma after and explaining something after you put the comma. For example: Also, I would like to conclude that many reptiles are harmless and protect others.

I agree with you. Yesterday I used the word also in the same fashion you described rather than having a run-on sentence.

Yes... I learned that the hard way. At least with my teacher it is. All of them are different.

Not always. Like Lauren said if there's a comma explaining something it can work. It also depends on your teacher. Some teachers don't allow "and" or "but" at the beginning of a sentence cause it just looks wrong and drives them crazy but technically that's not grammatically incorrect either.
