99 degrees F is considered a fever. Generally, for adults, this is NOT considered a fever because body temperature changes as you get older. However, in children under the age of 12 and that have a 99 degree temp, it is considered a temperature.
Hi there. 99 degrees is not considered to be a fever. We start looking at 99.5 and up, but there are so many things to consider. First of all, where are you taking your temp? there is a few degrees difference between mouth, armpit and rectal. Second of all, 100.4 is the magic number ,...where we actually start looking at sources and doing a work up. Third, do you have an immune system that is weak? Some patients will not react wth a fever even though they are sick. Do you have other symptoms? Achiness, chills, cough, shortness of breath? There are alot of things to consider. If your symptoms do not improve in a few days....get it checked out.
My kid (6 year ) Old usually have 99 Degree and after some time it get normal to 98.6. he is little weak and i am giving him multivitamin and iron deficiency supplements. What might be the reason for Temp.
