The Bible's references to tattoos are all in the Old Testament, and written for a specific people in a specific place. The ancient Israelites were surrounded by wicked nations, whose people marked themselves with tattoos as part of their tribal identification. God was telling the Israelites to avoid looking ANYTHING like those people. So from a purely Biblical perspective, I see no issue with tattoos.
The only way I see a tattoo as sinful is if a person has a responsibility to use their resources to feed their family, but they choose to buy a tattoo instead. That happens all too often in low-income families.
From a practical perspective, I personally don't think that they are a good idea. Many employers are far less likely to hire a person if they have a tattoo. In the current job market, you need all the edge you can get, and a tattoo will not help your cause any.
It was against God's mosaic law in the time of the israelites, be we are no longer undee such law, therefore get all the tattos you want lol. As long as they dont refect anything the bible doesnt approve of.
In the Bible it says that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit which means we are only temporarily borrowing our bodies, they belong to God, not us. So when we die you want to give God a clean pure and healthy body back, not an unhealthy and tatooed body.
It says "Do not do as the Egyptians do." The markings were used to signify ownership, such as branding cattle. Cutting was used in cultic practices to get foreign gods to bless the worshippers. Similarly, earrings were used to signify ownership of a person. The Bible says not to do these things for the above reasons. If you live in a culture that still practices the Ancient Near Eastern rituals mentioned above, I would recommend refraining from participating in that culture.
In the old testament, God said to not to but I know a motorcyclist that has tattoos all over him of Christian stuff. He missions other motorcyclists that way and I think it's cool that he does that. If I were you, don't go extreme on tattoos!! For me, it's ok to have only 1 piercing on each ear, so I think 1 small one can't hurt.
