Why won't my dog stop panting?

My dog is a 9 year old golden retriever. Lately she won't stop panting and I'm wondering if its because she's not getting enough exercise or if its a problem or something. If anyone can help it would be awesome, thanks.

Your dog won't stop panting most likely as a result of some pain or an infection, which makes the dog ill. You should consider visiting a vet for diagnoses and treatment. The vet may decide to give you some professional advice.

You're best to take dog to vet. May have heart or lung problem and not getting enough oxygen.

Does she pant excessively after a little exercise or moving? Dogs don't have sweat glands, so that's why they pant. She may pant excessively because she's getting old. Just to be on the safe side, follow what these people say: take her to a vet.

This can be a symptom of congestive heart failure. Don't wait, a vet visit should be an immediate concern.

is it summer or just plain hot over their?because the older the animal the less exercise they get. make sure to give them plenty of water. if it doesn't stop, then take them to the vet to check their oxygen consumption is correct

When a dog is onating it usually mean the dog is overheated. Feed your dog some ice and turn up your air conditioning if needed. A dog is alwYs hotter, because it has heavy hair. Although, heavy panting means there might be something wrong, Take your dog to the vet as soon as possible. You never know what will be wrong with the dog until you visit a specialist. Make sure the dog has water In her bowl. Take her on some exercise, walking around the block or something, and when you do make sure you bring a water bottle, so you Can give her some water while your walking. HOPE THIS HELPED! Good luck with your dog (:

If it is old, then it is normal. Dogs do not have sweat glands, so that is how they cool off. But if is worse and he is young, consider taking her to the vet. Also, if it is too warm in your house, Cool it off!

I bet she's hot. That's dogs way of cooling off. The same thing happened to my dog and it still happens. Try pouring a little bit of cool water over her and see if that helps. It helped my dog!

Unlike humans, dogs do not sweat. To cool off, dogs pant. It is normal for your dog to pant. He/she is probably tired or hot.

Your dog is fine. It's normal for dogs to do that when it's hot outside. Don't take her to the vet that is the stupidist crap I've ever heard. She's just cooling herself and maybe she needs a drink. This isn't a serious matter because we used to have a dog and that was on her to do list to pant all day in the hot sun. Those people ^^^ have no pet experience and are just writing down answers that aren't needed. Your dog is completely fine, it's not any illness or sickness, it's not a condition, it's a regular thing for dogs and cats.

Dogs pant to cool down their core body temp. because they cant sweat. I suggest to give him a large bowl of iced water and let him take a nap.

Dogs pant for two reasons .. because they are overheated or because they are in pain. You will have to determine which it is.

please have your vet check him! He might have some bronchitis or possibly pneumonia. Sadly, our dog did the same thing & it turned out to be lung cancer. Try to see the vet asap to rule the possibility out :{

Dogs usually pant for one of two reasons, to release excess heat, or because they're having trouble breathing. You could try turning up the air conditioner or giving your dog more water if you think it is heat. Obesity can cause breathing trouble, so if your dog is overweight that could be the issue. Old age can also make your dog pant more often. Otherwise, just monitor your dogs breathing. It it gets worse, contact your vet right away, it could be serious.

hopefully you have had your dog checked out and she is fine, but heavy panting can be a sign of cushing disease especially if she is drinking heaps and urinating a lot, it could also be a sign of heart worm. I have a dog with cushings and excessive panting was the first sign.
