The simple answer is "don't let it go everywhere". Except for a few dog breeds (e.g. poodles), dogs shed. Their fur grows longer in the winter to help them stay warm with the cooler temperatures and sheds in the spring and summer as the temperatures warm up. I suppose you could try to fool the dog's fur response by keeping it in a constant temperature, but there may be some extenuating circumstances such as daylight differences. In other words, you can't stop the dog from shedding, you can only lessen the situation by grooming.
Guess what - you don't! If a dog has a shedding coat, that will not stop. But the mess can be decreased by keeping his coat clean and brushed. The breed will determine how often and how much. We have a Golden and we brush her every day. In the spring we get her groomed and cut short so that she looks like a Lab when she comes home. The hair that she sheds is shorter in spring/summer, but she still sheds. Also know several people who give their dog one fish oil tablet per day and have noticed a decrease in shedding. Doesn't seem to have any effect on our dog but it may on yours - worth a try.

Dogs shed. Simple as that. Don't wash it so often, that takes the natural oils out of it's fur. Once or twice a year is o.k. Give it an egg once in a while mixed in it's food and maybe some vegetable oil, like a tablespoon a week mixed in too, to keep the fur healthy. There is a product called the Furminater - you can get a knock-off at the drug store - that works really well. It looks like a flea comb and you won't think it will work, but it does! On cats and dogs. Comb your dog gently. like you would use a brush, and outside, because a lot of fur comes out. Leave the fur in a bowl or something for the birds to use in their nests. But, combing and/or brushing is the only thing that will work. Your dog puts up with a lot of your stuff, you can put up with this:) It's not a big thing if you keep brushing. Besides, it makes the dog love you more, if that's possible! And, you will love the dog too and it gives you together time. We all put up with someone or somethings oddities because we love them.
