Why is it bad to cut yourself?

I have never cut myself, but everyone tells people to not. I mean I know you are hurting yourself but- Why is so bad?! I just don't get it. you can't get dieseaes or anything... So why is it so bad!?

The thing with cutting that a lot of people don't see is that it's not just the cutting that's going on. The person does it because of a psychological illness that needs treatment. Without treatment, the cutting doesn't stop. But it's really more of an outward symptom than anything else.

I get the emotional part and why people do it, but why is it so bad.. Why do people not want others to cut themselves? If it makes them feel better- why do they tell them not too? It doesn't give them diseases or anything does it?

Well, it could cause illness if a person's cuts were to get infected. We all carry an assortment of microorganisms on our skin all the time. Unbroken skin protects us.
The "feeling better" part is only a temporary relief and an inadequate one at that. The person who cuts is feeling so hurt and deeply unhappy on the inside that the physical pain caused by cutting seems to make those other hurts seem not so bad. But they still do hurt deeply and cutting doesn't make it go away or get better.

Because honestly I think it's unnatural cause normally u don't walk around and see people cutting themselves I personally think its different but if u want to that is your business also people think u are emo if u do but whatever it's your choice.

If you cut yourself, (especially on your wrists) you could cut a vain and blood would come gushing out. If you don't get to a hospital in time you would die of blood loss.
