What is the formula for finding the surface area of a pyramid?

The pyramid has different faces and the area cannot be calculated by one formula. However the formulas that you will use are 1/2 of the base X the height for the triangular faces, and Length X Width of the rectangular face. You will then add up the results of the various faces.

First of all I assume that this pyramid has a four-sided face.
Let W=Width, L=Length, H=Height
WL + 1/2WH + 1/2LH
That is the formula.
So now we say (for example): W=3cm L=4cm H=5cm
3x4 + 1/2x3x5 + 1/2x4x5
12 + 7.5 + 10
29.5cm^2
