The plural language was explained in a number of ways. One is that God was speaking to His entourage of angels; another that He was speaking to Himself in the Royal Plural, like kings did. Be that as it may, there is but one God, and one God alone, YHWH. And "image" does not mean God's physical likeness, as God has no physical likeness. it means God's mold, that He used to shape Man in the form of the mold.
It is a feature of literary style that a person may refer to themself by the pronoun "We" or "Our" for respect or glorification.
Something like Obama adressing a gatheringand saying "We" on behalf of himself as the Supreme Head and the undisputed President of the States, and all departments under his direct governance, with all commanding powers vested only in him.
