ronald. I don't know the circumstances, so I can't even guess. You are in the welfare system and you have to play by their rules. There must be a reason. The welfare system has guidelines. If you talk to your caseworker, maybe the reason will make sense. Unless someone identifies themselves as an attorney on this site, understand answers are often guesses by well-meaning people.
You need to get yourself a lawyer or call the lawyer if you already have one. The lawyer can file for a motion barring the welfare and cater for your lawsuit. A lawyer is more placed to give solutions that are in accordance to the law.
You were obviously on Public Assistance for a period of time and now that some money is coming through for you they would like to be re-paid for their assistance during your time of need..bottom line...no lawyer can make that go away...I doubt if they demand every cent they gave you but a portion of the money has to be paid back..truthfully, that's only fair, so stop trying to find a way around it and give the state/county back their money.
Okay well this is more of a question pertaining to the same one above ... My husbands lawsuit was finalized too , and welfare has demanded their money that they have been giving him while he was unemployed after they found out his lawsuit is final , and he's getting a large sum of money soon. Basically, you can't do anything about that , the lawyer who handled your lawsuit has to ask them how much you owe them and for proof . It took six months for that . but my question is ... my husband is locked up , and he told her that if she can get him out, she can keep all the money . (Stupid, I know) but basically , all of a sudden the money miraculously appeared , so she went up to the jail he was in , told him that she was going to take out 600 to get his detainer lifted, and she's gonna pay his bail , ALL WITH HIS MONEY . And he was gonna be out within two week. My question is, it's been a week since she visited him in the jail, should the detainer be lifted by now? And can she even lift the detainer? I thought it was supposed to only be his probation officer to do that .? Please answer me someone , thanks
