United States and Iran

If the United States declares war with Iran, will they have to bring back the military draft? I'm really nervous about it.

Can't see us declaring war on Iran in the current administration. They aren't writing cases for war in the press, aren't talking about it in speeches, and in general it's a state department issue. Rest easy: if you start seeing articles in the NYTimes and seeing speeches about war, that's when you know it's going to a vote before congress. No war without Congressional authorization. No draft without one, also.

MadMarcus, I am a conservative but if you are asking my "heart" party affiliation, its Likud. In elections in America I tend to vote Republican (at least since 1980). I was raised in a liberal household, and came late to this current position, like Charles Krauthammer.

In my opinion, military drafts will have to be brought back in order to secure the safety of Americans. However, you should not be nervous because the United States security has all the necessary weapons and equipment needed in case of any attack.

Probably not. With unemployment as high as it is, the military is actually turning away many applicants because they are full. Some services are even having "Layoffs" to reduce their headcount. I believe there are plenty of volunteers available even if we go to war on yet another front. Besides worry does no good. Try to relax and not stress out.

There are so many men and women joining the military it would be doubtful the draft would be reinstated unless enlistment went way down

No. If the US goes after Iran, it won't be a "boots on the ground" deal - but, rather, a "Gulf War" type effort as under George Bush Sr. when we came to the aid of Kuwait against the attack of Iraq. We strategically took them out with well placed "technical" bombings, and not one American soldier was lost in "traditional" combat. Unfortunately, we are presently with-
out a presidential leader who comes anywhere near understanding the threat we face. He's too busy with his failed attempts to make the country "green" Hello! - charred and "well done" will be more like it. And it will be so "too late".
