I can only speak for myself, but I think the questions are important to those that are asking. I am not hurt or irritated when someone is trying to expand their knowledge.

I'm not a mod, but I just HAVE to put my two cents' worth in here. I can't count the number of times a day they have to answer questions about someone whining about a removed question (which was usually inane in the first place) or a removed answer. Then they have to deal with "How do I delete my account?" which is completely obvious and simple to do... these users are just looking for a little cyber tea and sympathy and someone to say, "Oh, please don't go, we simply can't LIVE without you!!!". As in all walks of life, there are good mods, marginal mods, and at least one absolutely horrible mod... so treat them as individuals due respect and be patient with them. They're running a zoo here, and at times the animals simply refuse to conduct themselves in a way that is fit for public viewing.

Well (I'm not a mod) sometimes I get irritated but I don't understand how you get hurt by somebody's stupid question.

If a question is nonsensical, then off it goes to the trash bin. Sometimes it might get a chuckle or two on its way. :P
We all like to be entertained, but in a job like this moderation is key - no pun intended. I enjoy clever questions and answers even if they may not make it to the site.
