How do I keep my house smelling good everyday? I live in a basement apartment and I burn candles, incense. And clean everyday. Nothing works

I even tried using that carpet powder on my carpet. uggg. when I go to other peoples houses it smells real good. I want that. is it because I live in a basement?

Basements can be damp. It sounds like you are doing everything right, but it's masking, not eliminating. Diffuser oil sticks are nice. You can get some lavender or eucalyptus. You don't want heavy air sprays, it makes it worse. Home depot has a natural spray made with real oranges.

To keep your house smelling good, you should open windows as often as the weather permits and air your house out. There is nothing better than fresh air and clean your house weekly. You can also try Yankee Candles. Note that when using freshener to freshen your air, you are only masking the odors.

Baking soda absorbs instead of masking. Also activated carbon also absorbs smells too.

You probably need a dehumidifier in your apartment. It will get the dampness out and get rid of the musty odor.
