How to deal with Tics problem?

Hi,

So I got this little German Pinscher living in my yard along with my White Lab dog. The thing is we got some sandy areas in our yard so my dogs are getting bothered by Ticks a lot. So far none of those 'tubes' that you place on top of the dog from neck to tail did not work pretty good if at all. I am looking for a good way to get rid of those because they appear everyday. Now, I mentioned my german Pinscher because the poor fellow got his ears almost all the time infested with tics. It is really hard to take them all out with tweezers because some of them are pretty deep in his ears and he constantly resists.

For some reason my Lab get less ticks than my Pinscher.

So anyways what should I do?

I tired special gel tubes and white pwoeder that I am supposed to throw around the dog's living area...

Treat the yard with Talstar (not sure that's spelled correctly). You may need to take them to the vet to have the ticks removed. That's very unhealthy for the dogs. Dogs can get "tick paralysis" and die from it. Ask your vet what to treat the dogs with to prevent another infestation after you treat the yard. There is a pill available which kills all fleas on the dog within 30 mins. Its called Capstar - not sure if it works on ticks, too, but you can google it to find out.

In my view, the best thing to do is to get your pets to the vet to the vet and they should be examined for any parasites and treated. You can also call a pest control company to come and take care of the problem as well as advice you on what to in case of future problems.
