I have a smoke detector and its 8 years old and won't stop beeping and I've replaced the batteries 2 I'm a week and keep beeping

do I need a new smoke detector?

yes,as was stated if they are wired together and you change one battery that perticular detector has to be reset. hold down the test button until you hear all 3 or 4 or however many you have start beeping then release button

Perhaps. If you have more than one hard-wired together, they will beep even if only one has a dead battery. If yours is a stand-alone unit then it's time to get a new one. Get a CO detector also. Saves lives.

If you've tried everything, including removing the battery and letting it sit, it's time to get a new one. You should replace them every 10 years anyway.
