What number is halfway between 37 and 51?

I had this question in math and I put 44 but it said the right answer is 42.5 how is that?

the answer would be 44, so you were correct. You could ask your teacher about it, that is the best way to know what he/she was thinking about it. 44 is right because 51-37=14 which is the difference. divide it by 2. 14/2=7. 7 is half the difference and so you would add seven to 37 which is 44. You can check by then adding another 7 which gives you 51.
