If you wear black or charcoal formal pants you can pretty much match any shirt to it. It's hard to say exactly since color names vary by brand but I love black on black, grey with black pants or blue with black pants. If you're planning on wearing a tie that will play a big role too. I recommend you go to your local department store (Macys, Nordstrom, etc) or Banana Republic and have a store salesperson help you pick something nice out.
