Neither. God wants our needs to be met... nothing more, nothing less. He gave most of us two capable hands, strong backs, and legs to carry us to tasks which need doing. He encourages us to take care of one another, but the ideas of capitalism and socialism are a construct completely of man's doing.
GOD demonstrates perfection. GOD is neither. The Bible demonstrates both capitalism and socialism but the main focus is about having your heart committed to living for GOD. I believe GOD sent Jesus to die for us so we could live for HIM !!
There?s a phrase we live by in America: ?In God We Trust?. It?s right there where Jesus would want it: on our "money". The champions of capitalism always claims that capitalism fully conforms to Christianity. For more info watch the movie "Capitalism - A Love Story" by Michael Mokre.
The consistent portrait of an ideal government in the Bible is a socialist theocracy. This is where God is the ruler and all follow his voice directly by taking care of all the needs of the community. When people fail to follow God's voice directly, backup plans were implemented, first a republic and later a monarchy and dictatorship, moving from best to worst. Yet at Pentecost, both in Exodus and Acts, a socialist theocracy was implemented prior to falling apart due to human corruption. While today the US has moved away from dictatorship and monarchy and has returned to a Republic, I don't think we will ever be able to sustain a socialist theocracy until the third Pentecost when God comes down himself and rules in person. So just because it's ideal does not mean it's what God currently wants for us. Capitalism is entirely another issue, and I don't see striving for personal profit (capital) ever admonished as a good thing in the Bible. All profits were to go to help the poor or to go back to the master. The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
