Don't laugh, but I OFTEN take "BC Powder" and it helps so much! I struggle with this too. ALSO ... Excedrin Migraine works for me. These are both over the counter medicines. IF you can't get rid of the migraine with one of these two suggestions, you could see a doctor and ask about "Relpax" ... it is by prescription, and it's not cheap, but it works on my migraines also.
Oh, and I ALWAYS put a cold wet cloth on my head and lay down in the dark after taking the BC Powder or the Excedrin Migraine. It really helps me.
One way you can get rid of the super bad headache is by taking some pain relieving medications. Another way is by relaxing and getting some rest in a dark quiet room. You can also taking two extra strength Excedrin together with a can of coke. If it gets extremely bad, contact your doctor for some medications.
Anti-inflamatories work best on this type headache. Like Advil and aspirin (BC powder is aspirin and gets into your system more quickly than a tablet) Pay attention to these headaches to see if you have any kind of precursor like vision disturbances or even uncontrollable yawning. If you have a precursor treat the headache the moment you notice that precursor. My best advice treat early, anti-inflamatories, go to bed in a dark, quite room, a cool wet rag on forehead or back of neck may help. Develop a support system of friends and relatives, in case you have children (send them to grandmas to keep house quite), also someone to drive you to ER should it become necessary. Some of the migraine preparations contain caffeine and some docs recommend a cup of coffee or as the other commenter said a coke.
