How is the series Blood+ related to the anime Blood-C?

The series Blood+ is related to the anime Blood-C in that they are set in the same remote villages with vampires stuff included. The series Blood+ is also a collaboration between production IG and CLAMP.

So it's not a sequel and the main character is not the Daughter of Saya from Blood+ or any thing like that? I just wanted to know before I start watching it confused.
