They are not good because they are frequently known to have a high content of fat and sodium. Most of the low or no fat dressings that are available and known as as healthy could also have a total of 400 mg or more of sodium per serving which is a health risk factor.
Fat is fat. If you eat too much of it you will gain body fat. There are so-called good fats but that does not mean you can eat as much as you want. If you eat to much fat, whether good or bad, your body will store the extra calories as fat. It is best to pursue a low fat/low carb diet. Regular salad dressing full of fat, some bad some good. If you want to control your weight then use low fat or non fat salad dressing. Many people make the mistake of choosing salad for lunch with high fat dressing. It has as much calories as a burger and fries. While salad does contain more nutrition than a burger and fries, if I am going to eat a lot of calories, I would rather have a burger. But I choose the salad with non-fat dressing and I count my calories every day.
