There is a parasite commonly known as scabies. It can be transmitted by something as simple as a hand shake. Also, pets can give it to you if they have it. It is known as "mange" in dogs and cats and can be easily transmitted to people. If you have a pet who is itchy then you should see a vet and a doctor for yourself. Sometimes allergies can make you itch. I get a rash in the spring that goes away on it's own. The doctor calls it a heat rash. It is similar to what you are describing. But if it persists then see a doctor. If you have scabies it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The longer you go without treating it the harder it is to get rid of.

I was totally going to say scabies! I contracted that when working in a nursing home and it was literally like I was being tortured, I itched so bad!! If that's what this lady has, she HAS to go to the doctor, because the only thing that can kill scabies is a prescription for a specific type of poison...they gave it to me in the form of body lotion and hair shampoo and I had to use it for 2 weeks. Like I said, horrible, so I hope this isn't what she has!

The treatment for dogs and cats is even worse. You have to put on a plaster like, yellow liquid that is sulfur based. It stinks like rotten eggs since it is sulfur and you have to leave it on them for 24-hours before removing it. I used to volunteer at my local pet shelter and stray dogs/cats often come into the shelter with it. It is really terrible because even after you do the treatment you still itch for weeks on end because even though the parasites are dead, your skin has been damaged and the healing process is also itchy. Also you have to repeat the process 24 hours later since the parasites lay eggs under your skin which are not killed in the initial treatment. Also, if you have it and you let it go on too long, it can permanently scar your skin. It is a nasty thing, I agree. I hope I never get it again. It is passed from pet to human and from human to human very easily. But chances are better that this person just has an allergy. You can have these symptoms from a new shampoo/body wash or a new laundry detergent as well. That is why I never change my laundry detergent or shampoo/body wash once I find something I like.

If it is scabies you will actually have sores/scabs since they burrow under your skin to lay their eggs.

I don't understand why you haven't called the doctor yet. Maybe it could be hives...

I'd take some benadryll. See if it helps. Sometimes, when I've been out fooling with a bale of hay, a similar thing happens. I'm not ordinarily allergic to grass, so it makes me wonder if there's a weed in it, or if there's some kind of fertilizer.

Have you been out gardening or doing yard work lately?

You are having an allergic reaction to something.
Try to write down everything that you have contacted such as:
-Food
-Medication
-Chemicals
-Plants
-Animals
-What type of laundry detergent that you use, or if any change has been made of such.

Take some benedryl and if it doesn't stop within a few hours call your doctor.

Amongst the most widespread causes are allergies, autoimmune disorders, diseases, irritants, poisonous flora and skin diseases. You can use moisturizers or anti-itch creams with camphor or menthol. However, you are strongly advised to see a doctor and you can find more from this link http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/tools/symptom/545.html.

Anaxis gave you a great answer. More people are having issues with allergies this year. If you haven't changed soaps etc....likely reaction to pollen etc. Benadryl is also called diphenhydramine. Also try a nonscented lotion. You've probably dried your skin out from all the bathing.

I get that to sometimes and when I force myself to stop itching it goes after like 20 min. If you can't stop itching go tell a doctor you could have a skin condition or an allergic reaction to something.
