Well that all depends on what you mean by requires for you! Some people look up to him cause their religious but some people may just believe in him without being religious about it! I mean I try and pray every night before going to bed but if I'm too tired to pray I know that he knows that I'll pray the next night!

that is very true the doctrine of hellfire is a lie. It was adopted from the valley if hinnom where all the trash would be thrown to be burned!!!! research it
The Valley of Hinnom formed a part of the boundary between the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, Judah?s territory being to the S, placing Jerusalem in Benjamin?s territory, as outlined at Joshua 15:1,8; 18:11,16. The valley is now known as the Wadi er-Rababi (Ge Ben Hinnom).
Apostate King Ahaz of Judah made sacrificial smoke and burned his son(s) in the fire in this valley. (2Ch 28:1-3) His grandson King Manasseh exceeded Ahaz, promoting wickedness on a grand scale, also making ?his own sons pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom.? (2Ch 33:1, 6,9) King Josiah, Manasseh?s grandson, put an end to this detestable practice in Topheth by defiling the place, desecrating it, thereby making it unfit for worship, possibly by scattering bones or refuse therein.?2Ki 23:10.
The teaching that souls suffer in hell promotes a morbid fear of God. By contrast, a person who learns the truth about God and comes to love him will develop a healthy fear of him. ?The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; prudent are all who live by it,? explains Psalm 111:10. (The New American Bible) This fear of God is, not abject terror, but awe of and profound reverence for the Creator. It engenders in us a healthy fear of displeasing him.
Consider how learning the truth about hell affected Kathleen, a 32-year-old former drug user. Her life had been filled with parties, violence, self-hate, and immorality. She admitted: ?I would look at my one-year-old daughter and think, ?Look at what I?m doing to her. I will burn in hell for this.?? Kathleen tried to stop using drugs, but nothing worked. ?I wanted to be good,? she said, ?but everything in my life and in the world was so pathetic. There seemed no reason to be good.?
Kathleen then met Jehovah?s Witnesses. ?I learned that there is no burning hell. The Scriptural evidence made perfect sense,? said Kathleen. ?Knowing that

That depends on who you are. If you're Jewish, God expects you to obey His 613 Commandments as are taught by the rabbis. Your being in good standing with God depends then on how you do vis a vis these 613 Commandments. If you're not Jewish, and it doesn't matter what as long as you're not Jewish, God expects very little of you: only to keep the Noahide law, and most people do. You keep the Noahide law - you're in good standing with God. Going to church or reading the Bible makes no difference, as God doesn't care about these. He does only if you're Jewish.

What about the convenant with Ishmael?
Report as
The Gentiles can worship their gods, idols, the Sun and Moon, a man who makes himself god, whatever, and that's okay with God as long as they don't violate the Noahide law. Only Jews are prohibited from worshipping idols and other gods, and when they do God punishes them.
Report as
With Solomon we have an interesting conundrum- Yahweh granted Solomon wisdom since he was his faithful servant. Now why would God grant wisdom to somebody who allowed the worship of idols and foreign gods in the most holiest of places dedicated to Yahweh?
Report as
Momo, there is no covenant between God and Ishmael. There is a promise from God to Ishmael, but not a covenant: Genesis 21:12-13 and Genesis 16:7-15.
Report as
Btw Lior, Allah does not allow any form or shape of idol worship. You out of all the people should know this.
Report as
Yes, Momo, you are right that Islam is very strict against idolatry. That's one of the good things about Islam. But Muslims follow a false prophet, and since they do not obey the Torah, they fall under Gentiles. Now, since the Noahide law is included in Islam, Muslims are in good standing with God. They have nothing to worry.
Report as
What exactly is the Nohide Law? Be fruitful and multiply?
Report as
Us Gentiles are pretty ok worshipping God the Father, and accepting grace from God the Son, and being led by God the Holy Spirit.
Report as
Jkgarrett, the Noahide law is a set of 7 laws that include six prohibitions (murder, theft, idolatry, blasphemy, sexual immorality, and eating an animal while it is still living), and one requirement (to establish courts of law). These are God's requirements of Gentiles that would guarantee a decent society.
Report as
Yes, lala, some Gentiles ate very happy being Christians, other are happy worshipping the Ba'al, or Ishtar, or any other god or gods. That's exactly my point: God is okay with all those religions, as the only standard to which He holds Gentiles is that of the Noahide law. Christians should be careful with idolatry though, as there is a thin line between worshipping something represented by a statue and worshipping the statue itself.
Report as
I'm positive God cares what I'm doing and He knows that I am worshipping Him. I am a child of God and His friend.
Report as
And those who worshipped Ba'al or Ishtar were sure Ba'al or Ishtar knew they worshipped them, and that they were their friends... It's a totally meaningless statement...
Report as
We follow the Torah, the Psalms, and the Gospel as sources not a path. We follow the Quran which is no way in contradictions with the Torah, the Psalms, or the Gospel.
Report as
Momo, one of the 613 Commandments of Judaism is to not add nor subtract anything from the law. Muslims added... And while they don't eat pork, they do violate other dietary laws, hence subtracted. And accepting the Christian gospels as scripture doesn't add much either!
Report as
Well Lior, all religions command not to add or subtract anything from their laws, but does it really mean anything? What did Muslims add or take off from the law of Moses?
Report as
See examples above...
Report as
Those aren't meaningless statements they are facts from the bible. 1John 3:1 and Isaiah 41:13. And before you start something else. The New Testament is God breathed and directly from Him. And so... Galatians 3:26-29 says..... You are all sons of God through faith on Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves whit Christ. There is no Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
It's all true and you should just get used to it. I mean that as politely as possible.
Report as
@Lior, what happens if you break one of the 613 Commandments?
Report as
Lala. That is in no way polite. I don't know anyone who simply "gets used to" truth. Seems that in history from pre-Abraham to today we consistently misinterpret truth and insist that our interpretations are correct. You may or may not be right on that issue, but if you're Protestant, I'm sure you're wrong on many, many others, like most of us Protestants. You don't believe the truth. Get used to it. And I don't have any false pretense of being polite.
Report as
Lala, those are meaningless statements, because you stated you knew your god cared etc. the same statement with the same confidence could been made by any Ba'al worshipper. So how meaningful is it? As for the quote, yes, Paul said that. So what? He had an agenda to convert the Gentiles, so he made up that lie as he made up many other ones too.
Report as
Strawberrygirl, the answer depends on which one you break, and also on some circumstances. For most there is a way to repent. If you fear your broke one on the 613, the best thing to do is to consult a rabbi as to the proper way to repent.
Report as
Do any of those 613 happen to deal with going to the Temple for specific feasts (at least 3 per year) or sacrificing there?
Report as
Of course, and you know the answer is yes. That's a non-Problem, solved almost 2,000 years ago by the rabbis. Christians like to bring it up, but it's really a no problem. If anything, Judaism is pragmatic. Of course you can't be held responsible if there is no Temple!
Report as
I am not trying to be a smart aleck. I have never heard how the rabbis solved it.
Often on here it is claimed that for Christianity, that because the death, burial, and resurrection being such a crucial foundational pillar that if it could be proved that Jesus did not rise from the dead, that would basically demolish Christianity. I would totally agree with that (although I am sure people would try to find a way around it, or just ignore it). I just don't know how it was dealt with in Judaism with the Temple being such a central critical item with so many direct commands concerning it.
Report as
Right. So each day Jews pray that the Temple is rebuilt. But the rabbis of the generations following its destruction found alternatives: prayers at synagogues, atonement of transgressions on Yom skipper with fasting and prayers, the Passover Seder to replace the paschal sacrifice in Jerusalem, centrality of Torah learning over priestly worship (i.e., the ultimate victory of the Pharisees over the Saducees), etc. Judaism, as a practical religion, adapted itself to exist even without the Jerusalem Temple.

I would like to tell you that I am no part of Christendoms trinity. I think it is un-scriptural. I worship the one true God, the creator of the heaven and the earth.
Could I ask your view point on who you think forgave Abraham?
Report as
Abraham was NOT under Mosaic Law, as the latter had not existed yet at Abraham's time! E.g., Abraham prepared for the angels a blatantly unkosher meal! There was some pre-Sinaic Law known to Abraham, but that's very different than Mosaic Law.

And I disagree that God wanted the same Law for all of humanity. That's a Christian viewpoint, that is unacceptable to me.
Report as
@psalms, I believe God forgave Abraham. I asked you this because you said ^^ there "To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone putting faith in him gets forgiveness of sins through his name". So, I thought you were talking about Jesus's name. Jesus was a staunch believer in the oneness of God as I am. He came to re-enforce the old commandments. He said:

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill..." God commanded the Israelites, according to the Old Testament:
""I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt.." I agree, the trinity has no basis in the Bible. If it did have its basis on facts, it would have been explicitly stated in the Old Testament. On the contrary, the teachings of Moses urge us to believe in one God. Jesus earnestly championed for this unity of God, as the New Testament quotes in Mark 12:29-30.
Report as
that is true that the later had not yet been instilled. However they were making sacrifices for atonement for their sins. The cinematic law was the way pointing to the Mosaic Law. GOD is not partial every man is acceptable to him. He is the creator would it make sense or even be just for him to create people he would intentionally reject? Acts 13:34At this Peter opened his mouth and said: ?For a certainty I perceive that God is not partial, 35but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him. 36He sent out the word to the sons of Israel to declare to them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ: this One is Lord of all [others]. 37YOU know the subject that was talked about throughout the whole of Jude?a, starting from Gal?ilee after the baptism that John preached, 38namely, Jesus who was from Naz?areth, how God anointed him with holy spirit and power, and he went through the land doing good and healing all those oppressed by the Devil; because God was with him. 39And we are witnesses of all the things he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; but they also did away with him by hanging him on a stake. 40God raised this One up on the third day and granted him to become manifest, 41not to all the people, but to witnesses appointed beforehand by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after his rising from the dead. 42Also, he ordered us to preach to the people and to give a thorough witness that this is the One decreed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone putting faith in him gets forgiveness of sins through his name.?
Report as
God forgave Abraham for what? Abraham's only sin was to present Sarah as his sister.

And while God will accept any person, they first need to convert to Judaism. If not, they fall under Gentiles, and God may be okay with them if they keep the Noahide Laws, but not truly accept them like He accepts His People Israel.
Report as
Lior, I just used Abraham as an example to show who was the Redeemer before Jesus's time. If God could have forgiven anyone who lived before Jesus, then he will continue to forgive anyone He wants till the day of Judgement without the need of blood sheep or any kind of blood.

As for Jews being the chosen people, well they are are no longer God's chosen people. They were chosen for a particular reason, at a particular time and with a view toward extending blessings to their brethen. With the coming of the last Prophet, everyone can become God chosen person if he accepts his call through his last Prophet! To the jew as well as to the gentile, the conditions are the same. repent of your sins, accept the last Prophet sent by God and follow his teachings, and salvation is all yours!!
Report as
@psalms, are you giving me a Bible lesson because I've already had many lessons. ;)
Report as
God never forgave Moses! And Momo, you know I can't accept your statement. The last prophet was Malachi. God's Covenant with Israel is eternal.
Report as
@Loir God forgave Abraham for being a sinner that is what the atonement sacrifices were for. WE are all sinners. We have all inherited sin from the first human couple Adam and Eve. They sinned by turning aside from the creator by claiming they could be in charge of their own decisions. This is why they listened to Satan the original serpent, disobeyed go and ate the fruit which they were commanded not to. Then they had children. Their children were born with inherited sin, as was the rest of human creation born after them.
Report as
@ Loir you have firm grip on your belief that is commendable! I am in agreement with your own personal strong belief that you are correct. However in all your answers and accusations you do not offer any PROOF only ridicule. You believe Jesus was a prophet? Do you? Do you believe that Moses was a prophet? if he was then how is it you say he was not forgiven? Everyone knows he was punished for taking the credit to bring the water out of the rock. His punishment? He was not allowed to cross over into the promised land. That does not mean he was not forgiven. Your GOD will be more pleased with you if you prove his word by divine truth. that is by proving from Gods' word? quote some please
Report as
@psalms, if you follow the Biblical account of the prophets then no prophet in the Bible is worthy of forgiveness including Moses. The Bible says Lot begot bastard children with his daugthers, Reuban slept with his father's wife on the roof, Noah is called an alcoholic. The average man today can't even hold a 9-5 job let alone the job Noah had. King David depicted in the Bible is a murderer, plotter, and a seducer. Solomon was a idol worshipper. Are you okay with reading such allegations against the prophets of God? Thank God to the Quran! It discharged all of these false allegations.
Report as
@momo Although you state no scripture to specifically back you speaking.... The creator has his inspired writing placed in the Bible for a protection for us. Yes there were mistakes made by sinful mankind. It was loving and Just that the creator placed the gross sins in there as a lesson to us. This shows that if you carefully read before the sins, the sins them selves and the punishment afterward. How it came about that the people left gods favor committed gross sin. Some felt bad and were punished. some never repented and were removed from the planet! Davis committed all these things you speak of. he lost gods favor. He sincerely repented though. He was forgiven with punishment. Bathsheba and his son died. Speaking of the average man today??? I agree, why is it so bad? Because the Devil knows he had a short period of time so he is trying ever harder to mislead mankind away from the creator. That is why The creator tells us "be wise my son and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to the one who is taunting me." you love your creator, you see the difference between right and wrong, you see that man is disgusting in their filth. But you do not walk in the same low sink of debauchery right? Neither do I. I am married, I do my best to please the creator. I studied many religions, bibles and ancient articles to find the truth. I also went to a university and graduated with 3 honors. Many of the people in the world are misled. They need to look deeper into what the message from the creator is saying. Where does it say that lot fathered bastard children? Lot was married and was delivered by angels from Sodom and Gomorrah!!!

just what the bible said that he was given wine and was out of it in bed, passed out whatever. The act was disgusting I do not defend that. I defend what the Bible says that he was seduced. IT did not say he intentionally went to have relations with his daughters. I agree with you on a point that many people without religion have a high state of morality and charity. That is because the churches in order to continue to have a full income have adopted and conformed to the low standards so prevalent today. Further, God blessed them and God said to them: ?Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth.?? (Thus God indicated his purpose to have the earth filled with the offspring of Adam and Eve as caretakers of a global paradise. After God had magnificently designed this earth for human habitation, making it unique among all the planets that man has examined with his telescopes and spaceships, did the Creator simply abandon his purpose, leaving it forever unfulfilled because of Adam?s sin?)

Therefore, brothers, since we have boldness for the way of entry into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 which he inaugurated for us as a new and living way through the curtain, that is, his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us approach with true hearts in the full assurance of faith, having had our hearts sprinkled from a wicked conscience and our bodies bathed with clean water. 23 Let us hold fast the public declaration of our hope without wavering, for he is faithful that promised. 24 And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, 25 not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as YOU behold the day drawing near.
Point one- yes it takes faith but the faith motivates one to action. beginning with repentance then baptism.
Point two- hold fast your public declaration. This is what a Christian is. The meaning is to be a follower of Christ. what did Christ do? He went and publicly declared the good news of Gods kingdom.
What did his followers do? The same thing. What did Jesus tell his followers to do? Matt 28:18 . 18 And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: ?All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.?

If you do not believe it that is your choice. I would like to say Pi, I used to absolutely hate religion. That was one of my points actually for studying so many of them! When I would find their teachings inconsistent with the bible I would move to the next one... Funny thing I was disputing the validity of the origins of holidays. That my point was they are not pagan that they are great for family time.... Without the Bible, I went to the library and researched every holiday I could think of. I came to my own conclusion with facts on the matter without a Bible.

In Islam, the most important and greatest command that Allah has legislated for mankind is that they worship Him exclusively, and not associate any partners with Him in worship.

This is the religion of Abraham. And it is upon this noble foundation that every act of good is established and every act of evil is forbidden.

A Promise to Benefit All Mankind
Though the human condition had become desperate, man was not left hopeless. At the crucial point, Jehovah God stepped in with a promise. To Abraham, God said: ?By means of your seed all nations of the earth will certainly bless themselves.? (Genesis 22:18) Incidentally, this promise has been accepted by three of the world?s major religions?Judaism, Christianity, and Islam?as part of their beliefs. The Bible alone reveals the outworking of this promise by recording the dealings of Jehovah God with Abraham and his descendants, including the ancient nation of Israel.
But here is where many people would take exception. They feel that this is a typical case of nationalistic favoritism or prejudice. On this basis they dismiss the Bible, or at least much of the Hebrew Scriptures, as mere tribal lore. Yet is this sound reasoning? Why did Jehovah show such confidence in Abraham and make the promise to him?
The Bible explains: ??Abraham put faith in Jehovah, and it was counted to him as righteousness,? and he came to be called ?Jehovah?s friend.?? (James 2:23) Interestingly, the Islamic holy book, the Koran, also points to faith as the reason for Abraham?s being accepted by God as a friend. ?Who has a better religion than he who submits himself entirely to Allah? And he is the doer of good (to others) and follows the faith of Ibrahim [Abraham], the upright one, and Allah took Ibrahim as a friend.??SURAHIV, verse125, Holy Qur?an, translated by M.H.Shakir.
What about the Israelites? More than 400 years after God made the promise to Abraham, Moses told them: ?It was not because of your being the most populous of all the peoples that Jehovah showed affection for you so that he chose you, for you were the least of all the peoples. But it was because of Jehovah?s loving you, and because of his keeping the sworn statement that he had sworn to your forefathers.??Deuteronomy 7:7,8.
So it was not because Abraham or the Israelites were of a superior race or nation, or because they were in any way

I disagree, according to the last words of the Bible in revelation 22:18 ?I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll.
20 ?He that bears witness of these things says, ?Yes; I am coming quickly.??
?Amen! Come, Lord Jesus.?
21 [May] the undeserved kindness of the Lord Jesus Christ [be] with the holy ones.
That looks pretty clear to me. I do not recall reading about another messiah coming after Jesus. Could you say where that is in the Bible?

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment ... I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

"Howbeit when he, the spirit of truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.

GOD created man in Paradise. There, Adam and Eve lived in complete happiness. However, after they were put out of Paradise, conditions deteriorated rapidly. All mankind was affected. Selfishness nourished hostility, and envy inflamed hatred. Conflicts prevailed, and corruption and immorality spread like pestilences, so that love became rare, and kindness all but disappeared. Today, society as a whole has become devoid of basic values; united and happy families have become a rarity. These tragedies affect every individual in all communities, even people who believe in God.
God has shown concern for mankind ever since creation. He gave his guidance to Adam first. Later God gave it to mankind through his prophets, such as Enoch (Idr?s), Noah (N??), Abraham (Ibr?h?m), Job (Ayy?b), and Moses (M?s?). Beginning with His prophet Moses, God inspired books, which are still available in our day. God wanted all mankind to be instructed by Him and to find happiness in following His guidance.
Concerning the obligation to exercise faith in these books, the Qur??n emphasizes: ?Each one (of them) [the men of faith] believeth in God, His angels, His books, and His apostles.? (Al-Baqarah [2]:285) The Qur??n also speaks about the faithful ?who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.? (Al-Baqarah [2]:4) But what is meant by ?the Revelation . . . sent before thy time??
The Holy Scriptures are God?s books. They preceded the Qur??n, which mentions them often and emphasizes that they contain God?s guidance. We read at ?l ?Imr?n [3]:3, 4, NJD: ?He has revealed to you the Book with the truth, confirming the scriptures which preceded it; for He has already revealed the Torah and the Gospel [Inj?l in Arabic] for the guidance of men.? (See also Al-M??idah [5]:46, 47.) And we find at Al-Nis?? [4]:163: ?To David We gave the Psalms.? The Qur??n also encourages going back to these books: ?If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee, then ask those

The very meaning of life is to love, serve, and know God forever. We must come close to Him by praying, attending Mass (where we MEET with God), taking the sacraments, and being a friend of Jesus, who is God. As children of God, we must act like His children by giving Him our time and devotion. For more information, ask a priest or meet with a spiritual director.

Hope this helps! - ManOfKnowledge

The purpose of the Old Testament law is to convict people of our inability to keep the law and point us to our need for Jesus Christ as Savior (Romans 7:7-9; Galatians 3:24). The Old Testament law was never intended by God to be the universal law for all people for all of time. We are to love God and love our neighbors. If we obey those two commands faithfully, we will be upholding all that God requires of us.
Report as
Strawberrygirl, you grossly misunderstand the purpose of the 613 commandments. Unfortunately, that's indeed what your sources say. That is because their author(s) did not understand judaism, and in fact were ignorant of it for the most part. No rabbi or Jewish source ever argued that was the intention of God's 613 commandments. Their purposes is totally different. You are right God never intended them for the entire humanity to obey; only for His People, Israel, and He still intends them for Israel. With the Gentiles, God is happy if they satisfy the Noahide Laws.

Actually when Jesus was on the earth he fulfilled the law. Not meaning they no longer exist. But we do no need to make animal sacrifices any longer because Jesus was a perfect sacrifice. he gave a new commandment that you love god with your whole heart, soul and mind. The other is that you love your neighbor as yourself. If you are doing those 2 things you will be following all the laws!!!! Jesus said it at Matt 22:37-39
