Why did Cindy Anthony give a longg pause when they asked her if she knew Casey was pregnant when she was pregnant?

Report as

Because she's covering for her sweet, adorable MONSTER of a daughter. And she's doing it badly.

She was probably trying to remember. In a murder trial it is very important to give accurate answers. Especially when it involves someone that you love.

She was trying to read the attorney's face to see whether to answer with the truth or a lie.

From outside the US this whole trial has taken on a degree of unreality. It's the 21st century version of a public execution, with battalions of Madame Lefarges limbering up their knitting needles as they wait for the next head to roll.

Surely it has dragged the rubbish that comprises "reality tv" down to a new low. Isn't it just a form of confrontational voyeurism?

first... love the reference to A Tale of Two Cities-- my all time favorite Dickens novel-- what an excellent analogy you made.
second, I'm not sure why certain trials get so much TV coverage while others are swept under the rug-- even the Aussie's have to put up with it. During the OJ trial, my boss let us golf-course-greens-mowers go watch the verdict on the clubhouse TV-- what greedy-for-gossip Americans we are. And thirdly, I guess when a beautiful little girl with a winning smile gets murdered by, quite possibly, her lovely but insane mother, people sit up and take notice.
I was wondering if the judge in this case is allowing the trial to be televised? I only watch what the news shows us

I can understand the interest. It's the quest for every tiny detail that is abhorrent.

I don't think it is just Americans that are greedy for gossip..I think it is human nature, sad to say.
Every detail is making me crazy..especiually when every detail has been addressed like 5 times per witness..
I can't understand, why in fact ,that if a little girl drowned, the family never called 911 or called the police [that is a crime in itself] ..maybe she just vanished under water..CRAZY

Sorry, Toni, it wasn't my intention to point the finger at Americans. If a similar trial had been televised in Australia we'd have generated the same kind of response.

We have a number of TV programs that pass themselves off as "Infotainment", That is, they include a bit of information but sensationalise it to make sure they get the target audience who are most likely to respond to their commercials.

I haven't been personally exposed to it until this trial, and it's interesting to observe the degree of fascination it holds for ordinary folk.

that may have been directed at me... *I* pointed the finger directly at Americans. Toni's right though...

She's an idiot, which is more than likely where her daughter gets it from.

That's rudee to say about someone you don't personally know!

So her lying about her daughter for 31 days that's fine but me calling her an idiot is an unforgivable sin. She's is a horribly worthless person, I don't have to know her personally to know she is a liar. She did all of this to herself, all of the negative publicity she is getting was brought on because she can't seem to tell the truth. She acts like she's four years old, it's ridiculous that someone would stick up for her.
