Your Google may not be working due to not being installed properly or having corrupted files. Therefore, you need to uninstall Chrome via the "Add/Remove" program and reinstall directly from the Google site; www.google.com. You can also export bookmarks and switch to the developed channel.
I had this problem using Vista, but ran ComboFix, a free virus program that I read somewhere will fix this problem - it worked for me. I am writing you from Chrome right now.. It removed some type of malware, I believe. Anyway here I am,
No people , this happened to me right now , its not related to bad install or corrupted or missing files , tried reinstall and everything , it just won't load any page, firefox is working perfectly though , any useful answer out there ?
A few days ago Chrome stopped working. I had the program installed, shortcuts where fine as well as the path. I right clicked the shortcut, selected properties, and clicked the security tab. Low and behold all my security options where unchecked except for the System Admin. I clicked the edit button and enabled all the permissions for my user. clicked apply and now able to open and use Chrome. Not sure what happened, but thought I would add this other option if you have tried everything else.
easthampton25, your fix was right on and very simple. Thanks. Struggling with this one for weeks until your post. For some reason, compatibility was set for Windows XP and I have Windows 7. You would think the program could do this automatically.
