My iPhone says activation required and says I need to connect to iTunes

I dropped my iPhone about a foot onto a wooden floor and it will only turn on when plugged into an outlet. It says I need to connect to iTunes but when I unplug it it turns off and it won't turn on when I connect it to the computer. I have no idea what happened. Please help!

Your iPhone needs to be activated. The activation process is normally different depending on what model of the iPhone you have and the version of the operating system you are also running. If you are running iOS 5 then you will be required to have iTunes. Read more on http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonehowtos/ss/activate_iphone.htm.

Sounds to me like the logic board has been damaged. However you can try one thing. If the hardware is not damaged then this fail safe will always work.

Power off, then press the power button for 3 seconds till the apple shows up. Then continue holding the power button and hold the home button at the same time for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds release the power button but keep holding the home button for 15 seconds. The screen will be black like its off, but iTunes will say it needs to be recovered. This is called DFU mode. If this does not work then it will need to be repaired or replaced.

Then after it says it need to be recovered, then what? I tried connecting to the computer for iTunes but I can't power-on without the outlet! I can't just connect a powered-off iPhone to the computer. How do you get a powered-on iPhone to the computer for activation?

I've had this problem for weeks too.. And also I have No Service when it does turn on after 1 or 2 minutes. My wifi was never connecting to my home or work network, all of a sudden and my bill was double the usage because of this problem. Apple and AT&T are both playing dumb with me about this, I'll never get another Apple anything in my life. Anyone figure this out yet?
