You can be all by yourself in your house and you just need to confess with your mouth and accept with your heart that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and that He rose again to give you eternal life. Just ask Him to help you love Him and to soften your heart so that you will begin to understand His will for you. Hey.. It takes a while and when you mess up and you will ....ask Him to cover you with His grace again. We ALL mess up everyday. But, true repentance does mean that you are going to try and leave that life and sin behind you. Just remember it's ok to ask Him for His help. He will make you strong.

You will have to repent in front of his holy grounds, which is the church. Get a bishop or a priest to pray with you and to give you guidance on how to live a clean life. This is because after repenting, you will have to change your ways.

Well you should try not to sin.... But you won't go to hell for it... Just like some people think if your rude to others you go to hell, and if your kind you go to heaven, thats incorrect.

Romans 10:13, ?For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.?

You do NOT have to be water baptized nor doing anything to get to Heaven other than trust upon the Lord as your Savior. Romans 4:5 proclaims... ?But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him (Jesus) that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.? What a wonderful truth! Our faith is COUNTED for righteousness! There is NO self-righteousness involved in salvation. It is the gift of God. You see, we have no righteousness of our own to offer God. No amount of good can undo the bad we've done. Thus, Jesus paid a debt that He did not owe, because we owed a debt that we could not pay. Salvation is receiving, not giving. We are Sinners and Jesus is the Savior. Jesus is precious!

Try to change your habits. Try to follow the Ten Commandments and be a better person. Im Catholic, so I try to make it to Church every week. It may be tough sometimes but you should try to be more committed to God. Catholics have the ability to go to Confessions and confess our sins and God will forgive them. Maybe you should pray more, not just for you, but for others. God will always forgive you! Nobodies perfect - remember that!!! :)
Good Luck and God Bless!!!!!! :)

Stop believing in god and set your own standards to which you become accountable. Then sin is removed from the equation and you become focussed upon right and wrong.

You can't earn forgiveness from God. You can't pay for your forgiveness from God. You can only receive it, by faith, through the grace and mercy of God. If you want to accept Jesus
Christ as your Savior and receive forgiveness from God, here is prayer you can pray. Saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. It is only trusting in Jesus Christ that can provide forgiveness of sins. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your forgiveness. "God, I know that I have sinned against You and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness! Amen!"

U see how all of you have differant answers that is repulsive if you all believe in the same deity but yet the catholic say you repent to a priest one guy days just pray and can you believe it one guy even say you can sin all you want the only way to truly be forgiving is to first forgive yourself even your Jesus said that only then will your heart and conscience be free from the turmoil which drags you down then once your soul is free you will strive to be a better person by not repeating this sin Jeffrey dahmer believed every time he murdered somebody god would forgive him so he kept killing any fool who thinks any god especially the Christian god would condone the murder of his followers and just forgive is not very bright if you don't forgive yourself first then no god will help you

You have to go to confession, which requires going to church. Ask a priest to do confession and he will help you through it if you don't know what to do. Basically you pray and confess your sins then he absolves them and gives you a penance, which is usually a prayer. Try not to commit the same sins again when you are finished because you will have a clean slate afterwards and should try to keep it that way. Good luck!

Any mortal sin is bad enough to kill the life of God's grace in our souls. Without this grace, we cannot enter heaven. The only way to be pure again is to be forgiven of our sins - by God. And He is always willing to forgive us.
For forgiveness of sins, we must take the sacrament of Reconciliation (or, Confession). It is here we confess our sins to a priest. Jesus, two thousand years ago, gave His disciples the power to forgive people of their sins. The apostles passed this special gift down to their successors, and they to their successors (bishops, popes and priests). Today, we must go to confess our sins to a priest and God will forgive us. The confessional is in the Church. People taking confession may find it to be hard sometimes, and they may find themselves nervous. Luckily, Fr. Frederick L. Miller, S.T.D., has made a guide to the sacrament of Reconciliation. (My answer continues in the comments)

A Guide to Confession

On the evening of His resurrection from the dead, Jesus appeared to His apostles and gave them the power to forgive all human sins. Breathing upon them, He said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven. If you retain anyone's sins, they are retained" (Jn 10:22-23). Through the sacrament of holy orders, bishops, and priests the Church receive the ability from Christ Himself to forgive sins. It is exercised in the sacrament of reconciliation, also known as the sacrament of penance or simply as "confession." Through this sacrament, Christ forgives the sins that the members of His Church commit after baptism.
When you enter the place set aside for the celebration of the sacrament of reconciliation, the priest may greet you and together you will make the sign of the cross. He may then choose a brief reading from the Bible to help you feel the merciful presence of Christ.
Report as
Next, you will begin with something like "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been (length of time) since my last confession. I wish to confess the following." You then tell your sins simply and honestly to the priest. Don't make excuses! Don't try to disguise or minimize what you have done! Most importantly, think of Christ crucified dying out of love for you. Step on your pride and admit your guilt!
Remember, God wills that you confess all mortal sins by name and number. For instance, "I committed adultery three times and helped a friend procure an abortion." "I missed Mass on Sunday." "I gambled away a whole week's pay check."
This sacrament is not only for the forgiveness of mortal sins. You may also confess your venial sins. The Church encourages devotional confession, that is, the frequent confession of venial sins as a means of growing perfect in the love of God and neighbor.
After you confess your sins, listen to the advice the priest offers you. You may also seek his help and guidance. He will then give you a penance. He will ask you to either pray, fast, or perform an act of charity. Through the penance, you begin to make reparation for the harm your sins have caused you, others, and the Church. The penance of the priest reminds us that we need to be one with Christ in his sufferings so as to share in his resurrection.
Report as
Finally, the priest will ask you to express your sorrow for the sins confessed in an act of contrition, and then, exercising the power of Christ, he will give you absolution. As he prays over you, know with the certainty of faith that God is forgiving all your sins, healing you, and preparing you for the Banquet of the Kingdom of Heaven! The priest will dismiss you saying: "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good." You respond: "His mercy endures forever." Or he may say, "The Lord has freed you from your sins. Go in peace", to which you answer, "Thanks be to God." Try to spend some time in prayer, thanking God for his forgiveness. Perform the penance the priest has given you as soon as possible after receiving absolution.
If you make good use and frequent use of this sacrament, you will have peace of heart, purity of conscience, and a deep union with Christ in his love for his Father and for all men and women. The grace of the sacrament will cause you to become like Jesus, our Lord, in all you say and do! It will make you a stronger and more committed member of his Church!
Report as
In order to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation worthily, the penitent (the sinner) must be sorry for his or her sins. Sorrow for sins is called contrition. Imperfect contrition is sorrow for sins motivated by fear of the fires of hell or the ugliness of sin itself. Perfect contrition is sorrow for sin motivated by the love of God.
Contrition, perfect or imperfect, must include a firm purpose of amendment, that is, a solid resolution to avoid the sin committed as well as the persons, places, and things that prompted you to commit the sin in the first place. Without this repentance, contrition is insincere and our confession is pointless.
Report as
Whenever you sin, you should beg God for the gift of perfect contrition. Often God gives this gift when a Christian thinks about Jesus' agony on the cross and realizes that his sins are the cause of that suffering. Throw yourself into the arms of the crucified Savior's mercy and resolve to confess your sins to a priest as soon as possible.
When you come to Church to confess your sins, you should first examine your conscience. Review your life to see how you offended the good God since your last confession. The Church teaches that all mortal sins committed after Baptism must be confessed to a priest in order to be forgiven. This "precept" or law is of Divine Institution. Simply stated, this means the confession of grave sins to a priest is part of God's plan and therefore is supported and carried out in the life of the Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (# 1455) underscores the therapeutic value of confession for all believers.
Mortal sin is a direct, conscious, and free violation of one or another of the Ten Commandments in a serious matter. Mortal sin, also known as grave or deadly sin, destroys the life of grace in your soul. God's grace begins to draw the sinner back to him through sorrow for sin. He is brought back to life when he confesses his sins to a priest and receives absolution (forgiveness). The Church recommends that Catholics confess their venial sins, which are violations of God's law that do not sever the relationship with him or destroy the life of grace in the soul.

Examination of Conscience

The following is an examination of conscience to help you prepare for confession. If you are not sure whether your sins are "mortal" or "venial", the confessor (the priest to whom you confess your sins) will help you to understand the difference. Don't be shy: seek his assistance. Ask him questions! Most parishes schedule confessions every week, often on Saturday. You are also free to call your parish priest and make an appointment for confession.
1. I am the Lord your God. You shall not have strange gods before me.
- Do I seek to love God with my whole heart and soul? Does He truly hold the first place in my life?
- Have I been involved with the occult or superstitious practices?

- Have I harbored hatred, anger, or resentment in my heart towards anyone?
- Have I given scandal to anyone by my sins, thereby leading them to sin?

- Am I envious of the possessions of others?
- Am I resentful and bitter over my position in life?

Act of Contrition

Say this prayer after confession to thank God for forgiving you of your sins.

0 my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

Hope this helps! - ManOfKnowledge

I'm glad you have the courage to ask that. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and for God to forgive you you must repent and pray. Go to him in prayer, and talk to him as a friend. He knows that we are all imperfect, that is why he is giving us the chance to come to him. Ask yourself why you know what you did was wrong and tell him that.

In order to be forgiven of you sins and go to heaven you must first believe that Jesus is God's son, that he came to this earth, lived a sinless life, and will substitute his death for the one we all deserve. Jesus said in the book of John "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the father (who is in heaven) except through me." He also says in John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only son. That whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save it." Great news! You're part of the world, and Jesus wants to save you. After you die, there's only one of two places you can go - heaven or hell. God wants you to come to heaven, but He is just. He does not let sin into heaven. (Continues in comments)

Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned and fallen short of the gory of God." This means that I've sinned, you've sinned, Moses sinned, Pual sinned, everyone has sinned. We're all guilty. Romans 5:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." This means that because we have sinned, we deserve to die. But God sent his son to die for us. Jesus never sinned, he is the only one who deserves to go to heaven. However, Jesus died for us, he died a substitutional death. It is only by accepting Jesus' gift, the substitutional death, that we can get to heaven. If you want to go to heaven all you have to do is pray this simple prayer and mean it with all your heart. Just say "Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I'm a sinner. I deserve to spend eternity in hell for the things I've done. But I know that you sent Jesus, your only son, holy and sinless, to die for me. I accept his substitutional death for mine, and I accept your gift of eternal life." There's just one more thing to do - get baptized. There's nothing magical about the water you'll be baptized in, it just simply means that you've been buried in your sin, but raised up by God. It's just a way of saying "Hey, I've been redeemed." You don't have to get re-baptized every time you sin after you've been forgiven, because it's a permanent contract between you and God, nothing can destroy it.
Hope this helps, and I'll be praying for you.

1- Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle
2- Write the GOOD things you have done on one side
3- Write the bad things on the other..

This is what God knows of you without Jesus in your Life :(

4- Now tear the paper down the middle
5- Confess the bad to Jesus.. be truly sorry & promise to do better
6- Then throw the bad side away.. (to the foot of His cross)
7- Now GO before Your father God with your Good things in hand

YES- NOW GOD ONLY SEES YOUR GOOD SIDE!! Feel better? ;)
Ask your father whatever is on your heart.. He loves & cares for You!!

Repeat this as needed.. Christ's sacrifice forgives it ALL.. and then-
PRAISE Jesus YOUR Savior! Read & Ponder on His Words Daily!

Last- DO ASK for His GIFT of the Holy Spirit that He Promised..
and then WATCH & LISTEN for the Spirit's Guidance for YOU!
