What are some good things to say when there's an awkward moment?

I talk to this guy that likes me on the phone and there's a lot of moments of awkward silence...it's really...awkward. What do I say when that happens? He likes asking each other questions to get to know each other (we go to diff schools) so what are some good questions to ask him?

Ask what you wanna know about him like...which games do you like?...Which college are you gonna join next year.....If there's any awkward question then just say 'i dont know' or 'i have no idea' or something like that...
