Sparkling water, soda water, seltzer water are all the same and are water which has been infused with carbon dioxide gas (CO2) to create bubbles and this is how the water becomes carbonated.

When salt/sodium are added to the sparkling water, this is not so good, as it is hard on the kidneys and can also cause you to get more thirsty.

Also, if you have kidney problems, the carbon dioxide is hard on kidneys and you may want to avoid carbonated drinks.

Sparkling water without salt/sodium is better because it is almost like regular water except with bubbles and will quench your thirst.

Hope this helps :)
