In the past, most didn't, and they were overthrown. Then there was Constantine that fooled the world by putting a cross onto his coat of arms and duped the Church into being his sword. Who knows what the next one will do.

He won't considering what the Bible says of their end, in Revelation 20:10 "And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
