Pecans and hazelnuts are good food types that you can eat when you have menstrual cramps because they have calcium and magnesium. These nutrient help manage the pain and reduce the feeling of bloating. You should also eat a lot of flax seeds, which you can add in smoothies, casseroles, omelets or yogurt.

go to a good health food store and buy "cramp bark". it is a loose bark that is specifically used for cramp. it is non-narcotic, non-addictive and natural.and very cheap. brew 1 teaspoon to a cup of boiling water with a peppermint teabag(herbal please)for 2 minutes, strain bark. breathe the steam for 30 seconds to relax and drink the tea slowly over 5 minutes.it smells kind of like Irish moss. i have 3 girls at home who swear by it! it leaves no "after effects" other than cramps gone! you can drink it iced, too, keep it in the 'fridge to use readily during the day or night.

It's also important what "not" to eat...salty foods, processed foods and sugary snacks are all culprits that contribute to menstrual cramps.
