A god is a divine being. A prophet is one who speaks on behalf of a god. The words are not mutually exclusive, just as a king can play both the roles of a ruler and a messenger.

Hi garrett, the way I read your answer is that God is both the one who sends and the one who is sent. Maybe I'm wrong...

I implied that God can be both the sender of the message and the deliverer of the message. This is rarely the case, but it can be. An example may be when Abraham addresses one of the three messengers of YHWH as YHWH prior to the other two messengers going to Lot prior to the destruction of Sodom.

No one had seen God garrett! It says so in the Bible. These were the angels that was sent to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot, the nephew of Abraham was their prophet. The Quran has a similar story except it says God sent 3 angels. Do you believe God was eating buns?

I don't know. It's speculation based on a brief reading, not anything conclusive based on an in-depth study. I would say Moses saw God though. Perhaps face-to-face, perhaps not. The text is rather ambiguous and specifically says both. I haven't yet determined any position on those passages.

So, what do we do about the verse "No one has God at anytime" John 1:18?
Report as
It's not my specialty, but the word "see" could be interpreted as "fully understand." The whole sentence could be interpreted as a statement of the then-contemporary society. It could means no one has seen face-to-face. I try not to prooftext one verse out of context of the whole book or the whole Bible, but at the moment I have 4 term papers to write in the next week :)

God is not a prophet, God is our Father. God is our Creator, our Redeemer, and our Sanctifier. God is the blessed Trinity - three distinct persons who share the same divine nature. God is an eternal family. God is truth. God is love.
He is the Supreme Being. He is self-existing (not caused), eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere. God is pure spirit, which means He does not have the limitations of a body. God is also supremely personal. He is no mere force or power. In fact, He is a communion of Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is the Blessed Trinity. All three Persons possess the one divine nature yet are distinct.

Hope this helps! - ManOfKnowledge
