If you saw a person drop off a cat or a dog, what would you do?

My mom, brother and I saw a person drop off a pug today and picked it up because the house next to where it was dropped off didn't own it.

I would have gotten their license plate number and reported them. Then I would have picked up the dog, taken it to my vet to get it checked out, and it would have become another member of my family. But that's me. Taking it to a non-kill shelter would be your best bet. Any veterinarian in your area will have a list of no-kill shelters.

A wise answer once again. Some I know would have chased them down and had a confrontation.

After securing the animal of course.....

Thanks, both of you. Yes, mcx8xu... I've been known to do that as well, but thought it prudent to show my more reasonable side in my answer, lol. I've also followed a guy from one store to another simply to return his McDonald's trash that he MUST have accidentally lost out of his car. All in the name of being helpful, mind you :-P

I do know most people are so grateful to have their trash returned to them when it accidentally falls out of their vehicles. Perhaps you saved that good person a citation for poor judgement. For not properly securing their refuse.

He was gobsmacked, for want of a better term. I can't guarantee that he won't litter again, but I CAN guarantee that he'll make sure I'm not around when he does it.

I'm sure he went straight away to Radio Shack and bought a MJ proximity detector...;)

I wish we could have gotten their license plate number. but we couldn't

mcx... I followed him FROM Radio Shack to the grocery store... have you been stalking me???

Volgner, I know how frustrating it is. I'm glad that good people like you saw it happen and took action. The animal's safety is the most important part; getting the people prosecuted and banned from ever having an animal again would have just been the icing on the cake. Thanks to you and your mom and brother, that animal now has a chance and isn't roadkill in a ditch somewhere. On behalf of all animals and animal lovers, thank you.

Your welcome. However, we found out now that the person was trying to catch it. it looked more like dropping it off but we found it's real owner who lives in Michigan and we are in the southwestern part of Wisconsin. I'm glad we found the owner. We said that the only reward needed was that the dog is back with its owner and she still gave us a money reward. I am very thankful

I just got through calling the cops because someone went off and left their dog in a hot car with all the windows rolled up. I would call the cops on them too.

My mom called the police and they sent a dog catcher. We couldn't get the license plate number though.
