The guy who assaulted me 13 years ago has moved into the neighborhood and comes into the grocery store that I work in......

he has never threatened me, but comes through my cash all the time, should I tell my boss what happened? I am afraid if I do then he will go to the guy and ban him from the store. I dont want this to happen because I dont want a big deal made out of it, but it is really bothering me! I can't refuse to wait on him, please help

You are obviously getting a bad feeling from this. The fact that he always comes through your line sounds to me like passive aggressive behavior. Like he is letting you know he can do what he wants. I understand you not wanting it to turn into a big deal and possibly provoke him to some kind of action. However you can't ignore this. I think you need to talk to your boss so he is aware of the situation and tell him it needs to be handled in a delicate way. If he does anything or says anything that you feel is threatening in anyway you need to report him. If your store is not the only one within a reasonable distance you can actually get a restraining order and he cannot come in to your place of employment. Just stay alert and aware but don't let him bully you, even in a passive way. Don't be afraid to not do something about it. That's probably what he wants and it does sound like he is trying to make some kind of a statement by always coming to your register. Listen to you gut feeling on this one. Stay safe! you don't have to feel like you are reacting out of fear but that you are taking a stand against someone who has hurt you in the past and you are not going to tolerate again. in other words you are not running scared you are stepping up and being proactive about the situation.

The best thing you can do is to ignore him. This is because, if you try to raise this issue, he might try to hurt you. Just serve him as you would to any other customer. It is also important to consult a legal personality for more information.

This happened 13 years ago when I was in high school. I got the police involved then, but things never developed because there was no "evidence" that he actually did assault me.....it was basically he said she said. Would it still be on file?

Hold your head high and serve him as you would anyone else. Ignore anything he says or does. Do not react and do not let him have any kind of power over you.

so I shouldn't tell my boss?
Report as
You could if you really feel you need to. Tell your boss openly and honestly so that he is aware.

That must be scary. I think you should tell your boss or carry a baseball bat with ya. Both will get you great results. Hee. Hee.

Buy a gun, or a taser if your soft. Tase him in the throat though!
