You can try and think of the beautiful child that you will bring into this world once you give birth. Think of watching your baby grow and the first step as well as words that she or he will say. Basically, you can think of the bundle of joy you are about to bring to this world as this can help ease up the situation. You can talk to a family member or friend as this can also help.
Have you done any reading at all on the subject? Educating yourself will go a long way in helping to stay calm and positive. Fear usually comes from the unknown, so it stands to reason that if you educate yourself on the pregnancy and birth process, you'll be less fearful. Power does come from knowledge, so empower yourself through reading and talking to other gals who have had a positive experience. You can also use aromatherapy with positive imagery. It all ends so soon the pain is what most women fear but it ends and the good the bad and the ugly begins pray and ask the Lord to guide you thru each phase of your beautiful life ahead!!!! The love you will feel for your child is like no other Just enjoy!!!
You need to realize that babies are born everyday and 99% of the time, everything goes smoothly. Even if an issue were to arise during your labor, the doctors and nurses know exactly what they are doing and have done it hundreds of times. As long as you trust your doctor, you should have peace of mind that everything will be fine and you and baby with both come out of this healthy and happy.
If you are scared of the pain involved, talk to your OB/GYN about pain management, like an epidural.
Your body is going through so many changes right now, including hormones that make you very emotional. What you are going through, the fear that you feel, is completely normal. Just focus on the good, educate yourself and prepare for that little bundle...s/he will be here before you know it!!
