There are many people who believe there is a God. Even hardcore evolutionists are beginning to acknowledge that there is an intelligent designer of the universe. But the only way we can be saved from our wretched sinful human condition is to believe in the God of the Bible and the atoning sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. There is no other name in heaven or on earth that we can be saved.
When Adam ate the forbidden fruit he created a separation from his life force and would have died instantly if God had not intervened. To preserve the Garden of Eden and take away the privilege of the Tree of Life, God removed Adam and Eve and promised to reopen the gate when the life force between them would be restored by the life experience of Jesus. He would pass the test Adam failed and die his death in his stead. Adam and Eve with all their children could once again return to their Paradise home. So we are saved from the curse of eternal death because we are all born separated from eternal life.
In the Christian doctrine of salvation, we are saved from "wrath," that is, from God's judgment of sin (Romans 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:9). Our sin has separated us from God, and the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Biblical salvation refers to our deliverance from the consequence of sin and therefore involves the removal of sin. Who does the saving? Only God can remove sin and deliver us from sin's penalty (2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 3:5).
