Why is my cat howling? (It sounds like a muffled girls' scream)

My cat has lately been howling and i have never heard her make a sound like that.
-We do have a dog, but she does not bother the cat.
-My cat likes to be clean
-My cat is about 7 months
- The howling sounds like a muffled, girl scream.

She could be simply responding to anxiety or frustration due to a recent move or a household change. She could be bored and is seeking any kind of attention. If your cat is not spayed, she can grow more loudly vocals during the heat cycles. Howling can also indicate an illness, particularly hyperthyroism or high blood pressure. It is therefore necessary to take her to the vet for a medical examination.

Howling is more often a sign of pain. Is she eating and going to the bathroom regularly? Have her checked out at the vet. She may be either sick or injured.
