Going to a music festival later this month. What should I do to keep my tent safe from the sun & what not for a whole week?

I know that a lock is a good idea, and I have one, but is there anything I should do to prepare the tent for a week of potential abuse from the elements? (because the human factor of error can't be removed from the equation)

I suggest that you use a tarp to keep your tent safe from the sun. Ensure that you do not pick a spot that will expose you to too much sun. Check out http://www.ehow.com/info_12196437_keeping-sun-out-tent.html for more information.
