First, it will certainly help if you can act. Mostly, and I know this from personal experience, you have to be in the right place at the right time. I would recommend that you get an agent or other means to keep informed of what is being cast in your area. Look for a Casting Call posted in advance of the filming. I presume you live somewhere that movies are often or at least occasionally filmed. Good luck on this endeavour, I have a few connections if you wish to email me your information, maybe something I can do.....,
Take classes, get training, get an AGENT, find an audition, WORK your BUTT off to land the audition. And haha you "plan" on it, do you? I hope you realize how competitive the field of acting is... It's good you're so confident though(:
A lot of people plan on acting in movies. Few ever actually do. The first thing you should learn is how to deal with disappointment. One thing you will need before you can appear in a movie is to be a member of the Screen Actors Guild. The only way to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild, is to have a part in a movie. It's a catch 22 that is very difficult to get around. Good luck with your dreams but, be prepared to wait on a lot of tables, or wash a lot of cars while your waiting for a part in a film.
Take drama in school, join the local theater, take speech class. Anything that will make you comfortable speaking in front of others. Also get professional photos done and look for an agent. You don't have to move to LA, you can go to NY as well.
No matter where you are, just taking acting classes and getting an agent gives you the same shot as someone in LA. You might have to travel a little for auditions, but if you really care about acting, you'll do it. Be careful though! Make sure you're not getting ripped off by an agent. If a talent agent comes to a small town and says he will make you famous, it's probably a scam, at least if he asks you for money. Agents only get paid once you actually land a job, not before. Good luck! I want to be an actress kind of too :)
You should go to casting calls for extras. If you are lucky enough to speak in an extra roll, you'll be eligible for a SAG card. Without one, you'll not get any further. by the way, Woody Allen is famous for picking out extras and making them stars! Find one of his movies to be cast in! Break leg!
