Why do you need vacuum line's in a 1976 dodge ? or is it better to hard wire it with no vacuum lines ?

I pinched the vacuum line's and their was no difference in how the engine ran that's why I wanted to remove the vacuum lines

If this was a distributor vacuum line then it will not draw vacuum at idle, but when accelerating it will pull vacuum to advance the timing for better pickup. If the line goes to the trans , it goes to the modulator which in part , controls the shift points. Both vacuum lines are needed. Hope this helps.
