What does "no bootable device" mean? Toshiba Laptop satellite.

i have a Toshiba laptop and today when i turned it on it just went black and it showed me a message in white letters like this "Check cable connection! No bootable device -- insert boot disk" why did it do this? and what does that mean?

You have to check whether you have any devices in your laptop which could be causing this. It could either be caused by an external cable, DVD or a USB cable or any other device which may not be compatible with it. You should check the connections to ensure there is no fault, and remove any devices, then try to restart the laptop again.

It is not seeing the hard drive. Could be a lot of things. Try taking the hard drive out and put it back in.
