Do toads hang around wet places like ponds, or do they not swim like frogs do?

We have a toad that is always at our house and it has been for about a week. I wanna know where it could be living

HI dvdprincess, toads can swim, and they do need water to lay their eggs so the tadpoles can survive when they hatch but they do no live in the water the way frogs do. There are even desert species of toads which live underground during the hot/dry months and only come out when the rainy season comes to mate.

Toads do hang around wet places like ponds. They also have the capability to swim even underwater. The toad at your house may have viewed the location as safe as it is not endangered.

Probably some dark damp place near the foundation of the house.

Then maybe it lives in the hole thing that could just be erosion from the water coming down the tube that leads to the top of the house! But I thought that belonged to the bunny who also lives at our house... Thanks!! ( :
