What were the truman doctrine and the marshall plan used for during the cold war

The Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan were used in the cold war so as to stop communism. The Marshall Plan in particular was meant to stop the Russians from influencing some of the western powers. The Truman Doctrine on the other hand developed a policy of containment.
